Eagles The Long Run 1979

The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California during the early 1970s. The group chose the name Eagles as a nod to The Byrds (Leadon had been in Dillard And Clark with former Byrds singer Gene Clark and in The Flying Burrito Brothers with former Byrds Gram Parsons, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke). Comedian Steve Martin records in his autobiography, Born Standing Up, that Frey was very particular that the name was Eagles and not The Eagles.
The Long Run (break-up)
In 1977, the Eagles went into a recording studio to produce their next studio album, The Long Run. The album took 2 years to make, but yielded the group's fifth and last #1 single in Billboard, "Heartache Tonight" (November 10, 1979).

Electric Light Orchestra_Discovery_1979

Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) were a British rock group from Birmingham, who released eleven studio albums between 1971 and 1986 and another album in 2001. ELO were formed to accommodate Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. After Wood's departure following the band's debut record, Lynne wrote and arranged all of the group's original compositions and produced every album.
Despite early singles success in the UK the band were initially more successful in the United States, billed as "The English guys with the big fiddles".They soon gained a cult following despite lukewarm reviews back in their native United Kingdom. By the mid-1970s, they had become one of the biggest selling bands in music. From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated 27 Top 40 hit singles in both the UK and the US. The group also scored 20 Top 20 U.K. hit singles, as well as 19 Top 20 hit singles in the U.S. Billboard charts. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits of any band in US chart history without ever having a number one single.

Joe Jackson - Night And Day_1982

Night and Day is Joe Jackson's fifth album, released in June 1982.The title is from a Cole Porter song, and the album reflects a transition to a more sophisticated level of songwriting. Night and Day paid tribute to the wit and style of Cole Porter (and indirectly to New York).Night and Day was Jackson's only studio album to reach the Top 5 in both the UK and U.S.Night and Day sold over one million copies, earning gold disc status. The tracks "Real Men" and "A Slow Song" pointed obliquely to the city's early 1980s gay culture.A&M put considerable promotional muscle behind the album, and the resultant single "Steppin' Out" became a multi-format hit, eventually earning Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male. The album also spawned a second Top 20 U.S. hit single in "Breaking Us in Two".Jackson finished his Night and Day touring in May 1983.
While "Steppin' Out" was a Top 10 in both the UK and the U.S. (UK #6, U.S. #6); "Breaking Us in Two" was a Top 20 hit in the U.S. (#18), but charted lower in the UK (#59).This was a rare occurrence in which one of his singles charted higher in the U.S. than the UK.

Body and Soul is an album by Joe Jackson, released in March 1984. Joe Jackson (born David Ian Jackson, 11 August 1954, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire is an English musician and singer-songwriter now living in Berlin, whose five Grammy Award nominations span from 1979 to 2001. He is probably best-known for the 1979 hit song "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", which still gets extensive FM radio airplay; for his 1982 hit, "Steppin' Out"; and for his 1984 success with "You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)". Along with Elvis Costello and Graham Parker, Jackson was a part of the trio of English artists who challenged the punk scene[citation needed] and brought a New Wave sound to the United States[citation needed] in the late 1970s. He was popular for his power-pop and new wave music early on before moving to more eclectic, though less commercially successful, pop/jazz/classical musical pieces.
The ultimately UK #14 album was heavily influenced by pop and jazz standards and salsa, showcasing the U.S. #15 hit single "You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)".

Peter Tosh Mystic Man 1979

Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh (19 October 1944 – 11 September 1987) was a reggae musician who was a core member of The Wailers who then went on to have a successful solo career as well as being a trailblazer for the Rastafari movement.
Tosh grew up in the Kingston, Jamaica slum of Trenchtown. He stood out because of his height at 6 feet, 5 1/2 inches. His short-fuse temper and unveiled sarcasm usually kept him in trouble, earning him the nickname Steppin' Razor after a song written by Joe Higgs, an early mentor. He began to sing and learn guitar at a young age, inspired by the American stations he could pick up on his radio. After an illustrious career with The Wailers and as a solo musician, he was murdered at his home. Robbery was said to be the motivation behind Tosh's death.

The Rolling Stones_Paint it Black

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, formed in 1962 in London when multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart were joined by vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards. Bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts completed the early lineup. Stewart, deemed unsuitable as a teen idol, was removed from the official lineup in 1963 but continued as the band's road manager and occasional keyboardist until his death in 1985. After signing to Decca Records in 1963, the spelling of their name changed from "the Rollin' Stones" to "the Rolling Stones."

Video here
"Paint It Black" is a song by The Rolling Stones. The song was released as the first and only single from their fourth album Aftermath (1966).
The song was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, though Brian Jones contributed to the song's signature riff. Bill Wyman claims in his books that the song was a collective effort of the group, a 'Nanker-Phelge' one, but mistakenly credited to Jagger/Richards at the end.
The single reached number one in both the U.S. and the U.K. charts in 1966. In 2004 it was ranked on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The song title is most often given as "Paint It Black" without the comma. This variant has appeared on some reissues and compilations. Richards has stated that the song was not intended to have a comma in its title, and that it was added by the record label.
