Born in Pompei(Italy) in 1952, Giuseppe Chierchia, aka Pino D'Angiò, appeared in the musical spotlight in the mid 70s. With strong stage presence, was inspired by the figure of Fred Buscaglione, adapting to the spirit of the time. After his debut in 1979 with the single is' free please? D'Angiò reached the success and popularity with "but what a good idea", a piece composed by himself, a funky rap on a disc which invaded the nightclubs. The song, arranged by Enrico Intra, sold about 2 ½ million copies, reaching the top of the charts in many countries of Europe.
